Abrex-System S.r.l. of Castel Guelfo (Italy) is right at the cutting edge of the industry in the Bologna area. It has been active in the marketplace for over 25 years, processing and marketing flexible abrasive materials.

Late in the Eighties, it began its own production of Backup pads for electric and pneumatic random orbital sanders named “Winner” and of the first hand blocks. Thanks to these products, the company confirmed its leading position as a manufacturer of dry sanding accessories.

The foresight and entrepreneurial skills of its President, Luigi Antonio Mazzolini, the founder of Abrex-Systemin 1982,  and of its Export Manager, Antonio’s son Claudio, led the company to a breakthrough at the end of the Nineties: a more in-depth market penetration resulted in exponential growth of sales at European level.

The “Twister” back up pad – the end point of Abrex-System’s ongoing technological research - was designed and patented, securing the company a role as a European industry leader. Innovation, technology and quality are only some of the key words for Luigi Antonio Mazzolini:  “The strength of Abrex-System - which has grown exponentially for the past three years - is also based on customer orientation, careful and detailed product design and personalisation- enabling to offer products ‘made to measure’ and ideally meeting any customer requirements”.

On the strength of its acknowledged leading position, Abrex-System has taken up new challenges – including the installation of a new, 1800 square metre production plant and the participation, back in 2006, in the first dedicated industry exhibition, Automechanika in Frankfurt, opening up new marketing horizons for the Company in East European and Middle Eastern countries.

The next steps will be the application of the company’s leading products (back up pads for pneumatic rotary machines, soft supports and interfaces and hand blocks) to new fields of use, such as the boating and construction industries; and product range widening by designing and adding new products.
